DATE: Victorian, c.1890
A cute little book locket with a lovely chased and gemset scene to the front cover; it dates from the late 19th Century, circa 1890. It opens to reveal two locket compartments, separated by a silver "page" - the closure is secured by a small clasp so it doesn't open up when worn. The scene on the front cover includes a ruby-set ivy leaf and star, a row of three tiny diamonds, and a section of crazy paving. A particularly sweet thing, and unusual to see rubies and diamonds set in a sliver piece.
