DATE: Georgian, c.1810

An astonishing Georgian acrostic locket modelled as a purse. The front has the most wonderful applied flowers, in three-tone gold, and is set with stones to spell out the word SOUVENIR - which in this case, translating directly from the French, means "Memory". The back features another applied gold flower within a granular border, and it opens up to reveal a locket compartment for storage of a memento or keepsake. The piece is crafted in 18 karat gold, and dates from the early 19th Century, circa 1810. A very special thing indeed.
